Caribbean Flavas - Fredericton

What a fabulous restaurant! While on a long road trip we stopped in Fredericton for dinner.

We stopped for supper while traveling through the area and were excited to find a Caribbean restaurant with vegetarian options.

We were spending a couple of weeks in New Brunswick and were looking for a flavorful change from the usual restaurant offerings.

When we knew we were coming to Fredericton for the weekend, I did a quick search of caribbean style dining and this restaurant came up on my search. The previous reviews and the recommendation we received from our AirBnb host to dine here was enough for my husband and I to dine here our first night in the city. We love good Jamaican jerk chicken and are always on the search for what we tasted on our honeymoon 12 years ago (in Southern NB there are NOT a lot of caribbean restaurants)This one was the closest we've had to that yummy sweet and spicy kick of the Jerk chicken we enjoyed on the beach so many years ago. You could tell that the family that runs this restaurant are close, they joked with each other and included us in too. The owner said they had been in their location for 19 years but it looked brand new, you can tell they take pride in keeping the dining area clean and tastefully decorated. The only down side was they are not licensed, a cold Red Stripe would have been delicious good thing the virgin pina colada was just as refreshing.

Stopped in the Garrison District of Fredricton on our way out east and found this restaurant just off the main drag. I had the curry chicken with “tingle” flavouring; great taste and just enough heat. My husband had the jerk chicken- he said it was very good. I stole some plantain from him and it was perfectly ripe and prepared. Nice casual dining atmosphere. No liquor licence but they are developing mock tails. Zee and her dad were great hosts and lovely to talk to. My family is originally from Jamaica so I have experience with the flavours of the islands.
