We ordered several dishes: Mapo Tofu, Sweet and Sour Pork, Hawaiian Fried Rice, Soup Dumplings, and I think the Barbecue Chicken. All the meals were flavorful and well-portioned for the price. However, I did have a few reservations. The Mapo Tofu wasn’t as spicy as we had expected (and I’m not someone who typically enjoys very spicy food). The soup dumplings had a good filling, but I wished there was more soup and less meat filling. While the Sweet and Sour Pork had a nice crunch, it still had some crispy bits even after I covered it with sauce during our meal. The chicken in the dish was decent; it wasn't overcooked and retained moisture, unlike some other places where it tends to be dry. Overall, the food and service were commendable, and I would definitely consider visiting again.
I can say that hospitality here is amazing. The owner works very hard to make sure everyone likes their food. Your soup dumplings are the best in town. Family owned, their downfall perhaps the distance at the end of the city, but worth the trip. Their prices are very similar to other Chinese restaurants, but make it in portions and taste.
I ordered the deluxe chow mein, which was recommended for solo diners, and I absolutely loved it. The portion was quite generous and featured a great combination of chicken, pork, shrimp, squid, and vegetables. Even when I was full, I couldn’t stop eating! The service was fast and friendly as well. If I’m in the area again, I would definitely choose to eat here once more.
I’ve known the owners for nearly 20 years from when they ran their previous restaurant. Their food has consistently been outstanding, particularly their Shanghai dishes like soup dumplings and sweet and sour soup. They are also genuinely kind people, always greeting us with warm and welcoming smiles. We make it a point to visit every time we’re in Winnipeg.
